How fast did the month go?!
I mean, I shouldn’t be surprised it’s a bit of a blur – half of it was disrupted by annual leave and public holidays. I’m happy and sad about it. I liked the fact that there was barely any traffic on the road, but hated that the shops were flooded with teenagers.
Omg… I’m showing my age!
Anyway! I thought January wasn’t too bad (I mean, it could have been way worse). The hardest part was just trying to get back into routine and getting into a work rhythm. And dealing with the heatwaves.
Yes. That’s plural. Heatwaves.
Can’t forget that.
I feel like I’m really going well with staying on track with my New Year’s resolutions too. The pay rise really helped pull down my debts, and using cash to pay for everything really made me think about what I spend my money on. I’ve been able to finish up some of my stockpiled products and I’m reading on the train to work and staying active comes with the passive walking during the commute (not to mention all the other exercise I’ve been doing).
The only thing that I’m really disappointed in is my lack of self control – I’ve eaten really badly this month. The amount of sugar I’ve had, and even having caffeine! It definitely had some consequences. Heartburn and bloating was the worst of it but it didn’t mean that it wasn’t painful! I’m determined to be more disciplined with what I’m eating next month.
In my mind, I just wanted to get rid of all the junk food in the house that I was given for Christmas. I ate a whole bunch of chocolate and a Christmas cake just so I wouldn’t have anything bad to eat when my sugar cravings got bad. But I guess it’s true – everything needs to be eaten in moderation. I just… wish I didn’t have such a sweet tooth. I will keep working on it though.
If I had to choose the best thing that happened this month, it would be making this website. I don’t know what it is but there’s something a little therapeutic about writing down my thoughts and other random topics that pop into my head. Instead of binge watching TV, I feel like I’m making better use of my time and being more productive. Life is too short, so I want to make the most of it in the way I want.
Funny, I know I could choose something else like travel or take up a hobby, but for some reason I always come back to writing 🙂
So I say, goodbye January. It’s been a lacklustre month but sometimes that’s a good thing 😉
Much love,
