I like the beginning of the year because there are so many more public holidays; hence, more guilt-free, relaxing time off work. But… I actually did a lot over the last 3 days and feel absolutely exhausted!
On Saturday, I went to the city to find some souvenirs to send off to some relatives in America. But I decided to walk to the train station, so I was absolutely knackered by the time I headed home. I spent at least 5 hours in the city, walking around holding a bag a T-shirts. But, I also had a cheeky look in Mecca (and again I was tempted but I didn’t get anything – yay me!) before I headed home 🙂
Then on Sunday, I went to a toddlers birthday party and a family dinner. Little kiddies are very cute, but boy it was warm! There was a pool that everyone was playing in, but I don’t do water, so I just stayed under the patio chatting to one of my close friends. I feel like I’m a bit lucky to have friends that have kids – I always get to go to the birthdays and I love party food 🙂 Plus, it’s nice to be around kids and reminisce about how simple life once was. I know that sounds weird but they are just so carefree… I wish my life was like that.
Dinner was really good too – I tried a Costco pizza for the first time and it was really good! And cheap! I need to get myself a Costco membership because they actually have some decent food. Dessert was even better – a homemade chocolate cake. I love chocolate, so I savoured every bite. It was lovely to see everyone – I even got to meet a newborn. They are just so tiny! Unfortunately, I haven’t had my whopping cough vaccine, so I didn’t get to hold him. 😦 Next time!
And today, well, I went on my weekly walk around Lake Monger. There were actually a lot of people. I feel like it’s been getting busier and busier around there. I think it will start to lessen as the weather gets colder. I mean, we are now in Autumn! How quickly is this year going?! Then, I went grocery shopping and did some chores around the house. So yeah, today was more “restful” and a chance to just reset for the week ahead.
I wish I had gone somewhere like down south, or even just a quick trip overseas, but spending time with friends and family is always nice – especially since I have been working overtime some of the past weekends. Easter is coming up in April, so maybe I might get the opportunity to do something then.
So yeah, it’s been an eventful, uneventful long weekend.
Much love,
