I know I don’t celebrate Chinese new year but being the believer I am in all things astrology, I am so glad it’s a snake year. Apparently (well, according to google and TikTok), I’ve been in some crazy 13 year bad luck streak and it’s meant to end this year. So… I could sure use a break!
I had a really enjoyable day at work – we had a morning tea. I love morning teas but this one was pretty cool because we got to celebrate ringing in the year of the Snake. And, I know that the actual Chinese new year was last week, but hey – I’m just happy to have be part of a workplace that embraces cultural diversity 🙂
The definite highlight of the day was the lion dancing! Honestly, they are just so amazing and the lions were blue! I’d never seen anything like it; normally they are white… sometimes red, but these were so striking – I loved it!
And they performed beautifully! I had such a fun time laughing because they really interacted with the crowd and had some really great moves. They blessed my workplace too, so hopefully my company will have a good year too 🙂

I remember when I was little I heard the most insane, loudest bangs I’d ever heard coming from my neighbours house. So, I ended up scaling the fence only to find a weird creature eating lettuce. My scream was obviously drowned out by the clanging, and then my parents had to explain to me what was going on. After that (and with encouragement from my parents), we all stood on chairs and watched the lion dancing.
From then on, I’ve always loved it.
But I think what I’m loving more is that it’s going to be a good year ahead for me. I know it’s premature, but who am I to go against the zodiac? But in all honesty, I do hope that it’s true. It’s wishful thinking I know, but it would be so great to have Lady Luck on my side just for once. There’s some things that have been going on which have been really difficult and draining to deal with, so any relief would be great right about now.
Let’s see how this year goes – bring it on, you slippery Snake!
Much love,
